This month’s box is totally exhibiting different corners of Japan and what each could offer.
Tokyo Treat November Box
November box arrived really early! I was notified of shipment by 14th of October, and the Post Office messaged me on the 21st. It took only more or less a week’s time.
I even have not emptied my September and October boxes yet!
I remembered I missed the experience of tea ceremony while in Kyoto while wearing kimono. Too little time! These makes me want to go back to Japan and try every special of each town and city can offer.
I am lookinf forward to the Matcha Cookies and Hojicha KitKats; as well as the Dorayaki, Chocolate Mochi, and Coke Apple!
October box is here! Kind of late but I was well informed, anyway; and very understandable as Japan was hit by typhoon during the week that my Tokyo Treat box was supposed to be shipped. I was notified by QPost on October 1st already and I managed to claim it October 3.
September Tokyo Treat box! I was so excited with the Gudetama Custard Chocolates (you can check my opinion about it below) and the Pocky Choco Mint flavor for this month!
They are still in to fruits, though. Good thing that October’s coming and that would be the time to own up with the word “treat” on their box.
Tokyo Treat recently announced about replacing the share packs into a number of single treats to make room for more snacks that you can try outside of Japan. Also for this month’s box, a mystery item is included — might be a new snack or one that has been included on their previous boxes. I got the share pack chips that I honestly do not like that much before, until this box, but having a Japanese Mayo dip with it makes it good. Included in this box, too, is the Melon pan snack that I had tried with another subscription box a few months ago.
Also, I noticed all the items are facing the back of the box when I opened it that I have to turn each item over for the unboxing snippets and photos. (I’m just nitpicking—but it’s the first time that it happened to me; after six months.)
Overview of September 2019 Tokyo Treat Box
Some items had melted (actually, all items that has tendency of melting) and they’re not in a great shape when I opened it; probably with the handling here in Doha, as the temperature is still quite high, but it had never happened before. Especially for the Pocky as it was supposed to be consumed by sticks: the mint melted and sticked to each other and formed a block of Choco Mint flavored Pocky (Sandwich? Wafer?) that when you try to pull them apart, it will snap into crumbs, which is quite disappointing because I am expecting to enjoy its flavor, stick by stick! The Gudetama chocolates has all been deformed and I’m still looking for a few good ones to take a photo of.
Summer is not yet over with Tokyo Treat — ’cause they’re giving out slices of it! I received mine 9 days before August and I have a load of sweets yet to consume since June.
Having been subscribed for half a year already and so far my experience has been pleasant, aside from a snack or two in each box that I am totally fine not receiving.
August 2019 – Snack Menu
The treats that I’m most excited about are the Tohato Caramel Corn Cider and the Lemon & Salt flavor KitKat. (See the snack reviews at the end of this post) While I am not sure what to feel about the beverage for this month, which is the Pepsi Cola Refresh Shot.
Below is a quick overview / unboxing in stills:
SNACK REVIEW
Tohato Caramel Corn – Cider Flavour My ultimate favorite in this box! It’s sweet good that I ate all of it in one sitting — I just can’t stop.
Salt & Lemon KitKat I remember a certain biscuit with filling in the Philippines with this flavour (if you know Rebisco Cream) which is one of my favorite merienda when I was a kid.
Lucky Corn I love this snack. Reminds me of a childhood snack called Sweet Corn – but more tasty.
Into my 4th box, I’ve discovered that I’m pretty much still looking forward to each content of this subscription box. I have also decided to subscribe to Japan Crate: another candy subscription box for this month. Why? Just to weigh my options (– and more sugar intake.)
This box is filled with pink stuff! Of course, there’s a theme for it: Hanami Picnic — Cherry Blossoms! I wanted to go back to Japan just to experience this season by preparing a bento box whilst sitting and appreciating the beauty of the blooming Sakura.
Here’s a quick overview for this month’s box:
Tokyo Treat JUNE 2019 Box
SNACK REVIEW
(Beverage) Lipton Sakura Tea Flavour This is a beverage I appreciate as it is a break from all the sugary beverages that comes in monthly. Also, you can enjoy it at a minimum 12 times and not in one sitting.
May Tokyo Treat Box arrived! I was kind of worried about this month’s box arriving late because I was notified of early shipment than the previous month’s box which took me less than 3 weeks to lay hands on it.
Anyways, here’s a quick overview of layered Tutti Fruity goodness:
I’m already on my third (3rd) box of Tokyo Treat and I haven’t even finished my April box! The box for June was shipped today, by the way. I can’t wait for it because I’m expecting a lot from a Hanami theme!
SNACK REVIEW
Kitkat Sakura Japanese Sake this was the item I was most excited about the May box but I can now say that I am not a fan of this one. Something went wrong on the mix.
Tohato Caramel Corn boy, this brand’s products are just A+ that I finished every pack (two, in one event) in one sitting.
Calbee Chips (Original Flavour) the box came with the note saying that everyone’s box should be having this Pizza flavoured chips and since it may contain meat products that are prohibited in some countries (totally understandable as I am currently residing in Middle East) and is going to be replaced by either the Wasabi or Original Salted flavour, and I got the latter which is quite disappointing because you are paying for this box that you are expecting to receive items that’s more on the Japanese side; youkknowwhatimsayin’
Matcha Chips sponge nibbles! Like your fellow Oishi Sponge Crunch but in Matcha flavour, (and in star shape!) which is good; not to strong and not so sweet. It’s soft and creamy.
Strawberry Rusk I like this strawberry-coated crunchy toast! I actually received a chocolate version of it from another box.
Fanta Banana Drink Sweet and weird. Tastes like medicine but bearable; just not the one I would pick in an instant when given the choice.
Redbone the cat is excited to see what’s inside and kept on sniffing it.At Qatar Post — Joyce’s first box from Tokyo Treat.
The April box arrived early! I got my box by 25th of March (they shipped it the same day they did a month ago for the previous box — March 12, 2019) which I did not quite expect, which is a good thing! See my first box from Tokyo Treat here.
One of my friends here in Qatar also subscribed to Tokyo Treat a few days earlier before my account was debited for this month’s box. Qatar Post did messaged her a few days earlier than me and we claimed the boxes together at the same day.
Here comes my second box from Tokyo Treat: We have an Easter-themed box for April! Very timely.
Joyce and I both got the Pepsi J-Cola Sakura (I’ve been wishing to get the Sakura Cola though) — which they replaced the Fanta Banana Yogurt with, that is supposed to come with this month’s box.
Here’s a visual overview of this month’s box:
Kind of disappointed with the shrimp chips.
For the month of April, the box comes with the Futura Egg Chocolate and TT announced it’s monthly contest to be where you should decorate the egg-shaped snack container with festive colors to celebrate Easter. Of course, I’m in to the contest. You can check and see my entry below.
Update: 10 May 2019 I did not make it to the contest but I still had fun doing it (… for the ‘gram. Kidding!)
SNACK REVIEW:
Kit-Kat Banana is good that I kind of regret sharing it with my office mates. Tohato Caramel Corn is one of my favorites. If you know the Filipino snack Sweet Corn, that is what the Corn Potage snack tastes like.
Can’t wait for the May 2019 box to arrive. It should’ve been here by now since I was notified that my box was shipped 10th of April…
